Bass

Well I do have quite a few thoughts about my project, but I'm not actually ready to do anything yet.

First off, the body shape. I've always loved Ibanez's Iceman body shape. I'm probably gonna go with that, but I am still always open to suggestions. I don't want anything too wild, but I definitely don't want the standard jazz bass look.

Pickups. That's harder. I've done some research, and I think I understand most of it. I'm thinking about a rather simple wiring here.

Yup. very simple. I don't see a need for a cap, all it does is the "tone" control and it does almost nothing on the bass I have now. I figure the independently controlled humbuckers will give me all the tone control I need.

its great to hear about you progress on your bass.........now that you have got all the plans in your head all you've got to do is just get down and start. wow this is great........your own self made bass.

I'm glad your are not opting for the standard jazz bass look.......will make it too common. may be you should also try looking into the possibility of copying an Ibanez RG series. i like a bass with out a scratch plate........looks good to me.

good luck on you bass man. do put in some pics as you progress.

yes....well, actually it's just plans for now; I don't have a job. I can't get one until school is out, so it will be a while until this really progresses. But the bass I have now is really.........not.........great.........if you know what I mean. And I think I can build a pretty good bass for a lot less than purchasing one.

As you can see, this pickup plan is really just the p-bass set with humbuckers....because every bass should have humbuckers.

Yeah. The bass I have now cost $110. It's not even made of wood. The cheapest guitar I could get. But, I learned and am learning on it, so its a lot better than nothing.
