The Project

The project is all-new!
Exciting!
Adventurous!
Intuitive!

OK so I just wanted to 'yell' a few adjectives. But I've decided to use my blog to tell you about a project I have just decided to undertake. I am going to build my own custom bass guitar. Funding is rather low, so progress will be slow, but it WILL go forward. As yet, I have been unable to obtain any materials due to nobody wanting to sell them on ebay. But I'll get there. The plan thus far is this;
-wood body (wood type undetermined, not that important anyway)
- left handed (cause that's the way I roll)
- 5 strings ( I want to add the lower end to my playing)
- fretless (cause it's really cool. Do I need another reason?)

That's all I've decided on so far. As far as pickups, finishes, and bridge types, etc. that will come eventually.

I've decided that I've got enough skill with a jigsaw and router to cut out my own body and electronic cavities. I don't make any major mistakes, and the minor ones that I do can be sanded away. However, necks are WAY too advanced for me, so I'll be buying one of those. I'd screw it up real bad if I tried to make one of those myself.
Updates will come whenever there is anything new to say.

So, now you know what's going on. Suggestions, questions, comments?

super cool

I think this is a super cool project. I never got around to doing something like that myself... Ofcourse it's not too late to get started on it someday

Hey man, do you realize that this may become a major hobby of yours? Are we looking at the next pro guitar builder here?

Actually, yeah, If this works out this could be like "what I do", ya know? It of course interests me to the extreme. So it might just be a hobby, but there's not much that would make me happier than having like a custom guitar shop/repair. So I really hope this project will get on it's feet.
